Akaka Falls - Hilo, Hawaii

Updated: Nov 21, 2018

Akaka falls state park is located on the eastern side on the Island of Hawaii, not too far from Hilo. It is home to the beautiful 442 ft tall Akaka Falls, one of the most popular tourist spots on Big Island.

It is a gorgeous park in a lush green rainforest setting. A short paved trail through the forest leads to the waterfall lookout. The walk is extremely pleasant and has many pretty flowers and plants to look at. Section of the trail leading to Kahuna falls was closed off for repairs.

The fruit vendor just outside park entrance sells coconut water, pineapples and other delicious Hawaiian fruits, great for a hot day.
